Today backhoes are commonly found on almost every construction job. It is hard to imagine any dirt moving job without some backhoe work.

Backhoes are compact and easy to maneuver. One of the reasons they are so popular is the ability to quickly do small jobs otherwise done by hand. Rubber tires give it mobility to handle material and load out unused spoil from excavations. They can also work around obstructions and in tight areas.

The commonly seen tractor with a front bucket and a rear mounted backhoe was first built in 1953 by a British company known as JCB equipment. In fact, for years a backhoe tractor was known as a JCB no matter who built them. In 1957, Case Tractor Company bought out the original manufacturer. With the acquisition by Case came many improvements to the original design.

After the acquisition was complete, Case engineer Elton Long and his team brought in resources from throughout the company to finish development of an integrated loader/backhoe under a very tight deadline. By early spring, Case had successfully merged technologies to create the Case 320, the first fully integrated loader/backhoe made and warranted by one company.

Many people think the term back hoe refers to the fact that the digging attachment is located on the rear of the tractor. However, the term originally referred to the action of the bucket. The digging operation is carried out by using hydraulic power to pull the bucket back towards the tractor.

Now, the backhoe can be even more versatile with a backhoe attachment for your Bobcat or other skid steer loader. Industrial Products and Equipment has now made arrangements with the manufacturer to market a simple yet very efficient dirt moving machine.

The skid loader backhoe attachment, quickly converts the skid steer into a excavator or trencher. With the addition of a thumb, your loader can also be used to carry and place heavy and bulky items. If you need to transport, the dirt from a trenching operation, the bucket can be quickly swapped using the loaders quick attach feature.

While a traditional tractor style backhoe is highly maneuverable, nothing beats a skid steer loader for getting into small tight places. Having a simple quick connect back hoe will add a great deal of versatility to your machine.

The Skid Steer backhoe attachment is very reasonably priced and might pay for itself in its first use. This unit is extremely well built and designed by a man who uses his own equipment in his own earth work. He has incorporated the features that he always wanted into this unit while keeping the design simple and efficient.

It is important to inspect a used excavator when buying one. This is because a used heavy machinery can be in bad condition and it defeats the purpose of saving money if after buying the used machine only to find out later that one has to spend a lot on repairs. Inspection of a used excavator is normally carried out in two stages. The first stage is a physical visual inspection and the second stage is performance inspection. In performance inspection, the excavator is started up and performed specific functions for evaluation. What are the main things to look out for during the visual inspection? The main components to inspect are:

1) The Engines – When inspecting the engine look out for leakages or soot. The present of any indicates that the excavator engine may need overhauling.

2) The Cab, Stick, Boom and bucket – When inspecting this look out for welds not from the factory as this indicates repair done. On the boom and stick make sure they are not bend or twisted. Inspect the pivot points for signs of wear, which requires replacement. Check the bucket to see that it is not dented or damaged.

3) Track and under carriage – Track inspection involved looking at how much wear there is and the condition of the links joining the individual metal plates of the tracks. This is to find out if the tracks need replacement. Other things to inspect are the rollers and sprockets.

In performance inspection, the excavator’s engine is started up. At this stage lookout for any considerable soot or smoke discharge. Any of these further indicates that the engine needs overhauling. Once warmed up, the machine is put through a series of paces. This is to test the hydraulic system by moving the boom, dipper and bucket. The condition of the hydraulic cylinders should also be inspected at this stage. Next the swing gears and bearings are checked. A well working swing system should be able to rotate the machine top structures smoothly. It also has little deflection and is able to start and stop accurately. Finally, the drive system of the excavator is inspected. To do this, the excavator is driven over a short distance. If the drives are working well the excavator should run straight. Therefore by carrying out a proper inspection the actual buying cost of the used excavator, where the repair cost are taken into consideration can be determined and more importantly one can make the right buying decision.

If you do use a tractor in your business on a regular basis, then having one of your own is a big asset to your business. It would be best to have one of your own rather than having to hire it and make payments all the time. Owning it can make it available to you when needed and also save you a lot of money in the long run. In fact, when it comes to making a saving, a used tractor or Excavator is actually a huge saving on your resources.

A used Excavator can cost you less than half of what a new one would cost and be available to you at any time. Buying a used tractor or used excavator by searching online is really the easiest and the best thing to do. Going to a dealer close by would mean only information regarding a particular brand. However, in the online world you can make immediate comparisons on the features, price and other aspects of the very best brands. You are sure to get the best possible deal online.

When it comes to buying used tractors and buy used Excavators online, there are a few things that you need to consider prior to the purchase. Firstly, the present condition of the machinery is a very important criterion that would greatly influence your decision. Ascertaining the condition of the machinery, its useful life and efficiency is of utmost importance. Although you have several options online, finding a reliable seller or dealer is really important. It is best to buy from a reputed and reliable equipment dealer. This way you are sure of the quality of the product.

Getting the documents checked is another important to do on the list of things. Only then can you be sure that the machinery you are going to buy would serve you rather than the other way round. The hours of use, the maintenance of the machinery and its overall condition is all to be ascertained before signing on the dotted line. It is also important that you do check the availability of the spares. Servicing facilities, the network of service centers and the cost involved is also an important consideration.

Keeping your eyes and ears open for any and every information is the key. You need to gather as much data and information about the new or used machinery and the dealer. Making verifications regarding the smallest of details would ensure that you have a good deal. Value for money is the basis for your purchase decision and thus, every effort must be made to strike the right and the best deal.

The online world is the best place to find used tractors, Excavators and other machinery for a fabulous price. All that is needed is a good survey, gathering relevant information and making the right decision. A right purchase would actually stand you in good stead for a really long time to come.

Skid steer loaders are machines used in different types of construction sites, and are applicable especially in tight spaces because they are small and easy maneuverable.

They are equipped with wheels and can turn in their own tracks, making them extremely valuable for applications that require a compact, agile loader. They have light weight and so, they can be towed behind a pickup truck. The skid steel loader has four wheels and its characteristic is that the left-side drive wheels are independent of the right-side drive wheels. This way, wheel speed and direction of rotation of the wheels will determine the direction the machine will turn. The skid steel loaders have a simple operating system. Inside the cabin there are two joysticks: a left hand joystick and a right hand joystick. The left hand one is made for controlling the direction. The right hand one is for controlling the loader arms and bucket. By pulling the joystick back, the arms of the machine will raise; by pushing the joystick forward, the arms will be lowered. In order to tilt the bucket up the joystick must be moved to the left. By moving it to the right the bucket will dump. All the system is powered by hydraulic pumps, meaning that there is no mechanical transmission.

The Skid steel loader is suitable for digging and moving landscaping and other building materials. Due to its numerous tools it can also grade, jackhammer cement and load trucks. Some of the special tools of the skid steer loaders are: a dirt bucket, utility grapple bucket, pallet forks, utility fork, angle blade, auger, broom, cold planer, hydraulic hammer, landscape rake and tillers, material handling arm, stump grinder trencher and a vibratory compactor. These tools make skid steel loaders quite useful because there will not be necessary 10 machines any more to complete all these functions.

Another useful machine in the construction field is the backhoes. They are generally used for many different jobs and can replace many other types of heavy construction equipment at the construction site.

They are designed in a unique way; they have tools sticking out from every way of the machine. The backhoes can be considered to have three pieces of construction equipment combined into one unit: a tractor, a loader and a classical backhoe. Because the backhoes can use all these three functions at a construction site they are considered to be quite valuable and replace other machines.

The backhoe’s core structure is the tractor. Its design allows the machine to move easily over different type of rough terrain. It is equipped with a turbocharged diesel engine, with tires and a cabin for the pilot.

The loader is another part of the backhoe. It is attached in the front, while the backhoe is situated in the back. The loader is used as a spoon that picks up and carries a lot of loose material. It can also be used for smoothing things over, or for pushing dirt.

The backhoe loader also has a backhoe in the back of the tractor. Its function is to dig earth, or to lift heavy loads and then drop them in a pile at the side of the hole. All kinds of holes can be digged with a backhoe but most of all is suitable for ditches. In order not to fall inside the hole, the backhoes are equipped with stabilizer legs.

The backhoes are used mostly for digging ditches with the backhoe, and then for carrying out the dirt with the loader. After the work is done in that are, the loader will fill back the ditch with the extracted dirt.

These machines, the skid steer loader and the backhoe are very useful nowadays because they are very efficient and they save a lot of time because the operator doesn’t have to switch between two different pieces of equipment any more.

Building construction equipments vary from the heavy, large equipment to the mobile, lighter equipment.Hydraulic excavators, cranes, and concrete mixers are among the basic, hardworking equipments that any building construction company cannot function with.

Hydraulic Excavators
Hydraulic Excavators (also known as diggers or earth movers) are extremely large equipments utilized for multiple operations. They are utilized in plications such as construction of large structures and roads as well as in the mining industry. As one of the first equipment to be applied for readying the nstruction place, excavators level the land by burrowing and cutting ground. Hydraulic excavators are very functional for certain confined work sites which are less receptive to traditional construction equipment.

The excavator is made up of four basic parts-hydraulic cylinders, arm, bucket, and boom-all involved in loading and excavating. Interestingly, their movement is similar to that of a human arm. The boom acts similar to the upper part of an arm, together with shoulder and elbow. The excavator’s arm’s movement is likened to a human arm beginning at the elbow to the wrist. And, the bucket is likened to a cupped hand.

Hydraulic excavators consists of loaders, tippers and crawlers (bulldozers). A crawler is a very robust tractor fitted with a dozer blade. Most excavators feature crawlers since they’re more functional for operations on mud-covered, rough terrains as compared to wheeled ones.

Cranes

Cranes are equipped with pulleys and levers to haul up and lower sizeable weights. Basically, a crane has a telescopic boom or steel truss that hoists its portable base. Both the levers or pulleys lift the boom, and the boom typically has a hook hanging on it. There are several kinds of cranes including loader cranes and tower cranes. Loader cranes feature hydraulic power booms attached onto trailers. Booms load up materials onto the trailer and may be collapsed after use. Certain types of loader cranes feature telescopic boom for easy operation. Tower cranes are usually the tallest of all cranes. However, they do not feature portable base and parts need to be assembled. These cranes are largely applied to build tall structures and skyscrapers. Primarily exploited for the cutting down of workload, cranes can also perform lots of jobs including moving, digging and creating.

Concrete mixers or processors

Concrete mixers or processors are powered equipment used for mixing cement, water, sand, and gravel to create concrete. A concrete mixer is made up of a rotating drum, a motor, and a trough. The elements applied to create concrete whirls around thus mixing everything consistently.

Concrete processors come in various sizes from the extremely large industrial mixing truck to the smaller, handy concrete mixer. A small concrete mixer is ample for smaller amounts of concrete, up to 2 cubic yards. It’s normally run by electricity and features a wheeled base for easier transfer. Its drum can be tilted at an angle so that concrete can be easily dispensed onto the spot that needs to be cemented. A large industrial concrete mixer truck on the other hand, is applied for mixing as well as carrying big amounts of concrete for use on a construction place. These mixers are computer encoded for constant, accurate mix.

The secret behind running a successful construction business heavily lies on using the best construction equipment. Realizing this truth, the world’s best construction companies possess high-class construction equipment. Construction equipment is the best ally that a company can depend on. This equipment facilitates and provides the best assistance when working against a tight deadline. Some common construction equipment needed for any construction business includes bulldozers, wheel loaders, backhoes, pavers, excavators, cranes, and tractors, rollers, forklifts, trucks, generators, pressure washers, welders and air compressors.

Well-known companies such as John Deere equipment, Volvo equipment, Caterpillar equipment, New Holland equipment, Komatsu equipment, Bobcat equipment, Terex equipment, Kawasaki equipment, Hyundai equipment and International Harvester manufacture construction equipment. They are the most popular and well known construction equipment manufacturers. These companies are known for making high quality construction equipment. Parts for construction equipment are as vital as the equipment themselves. Any breakdowns during work will seriously affect the work schedules.

Stocking vital equipment parts in adequate numbers will help in executing the projects on time. New parts or reconditioned parts are important equipment and should be in stock, as sourcing them at the time of break down would prove difficult and expensive. Many companies offer genuine high quality parts. Often they guarantee for high performance and long life. Keeping enough stock in their warehouse to meet any demand will be beneficial. Normally, most reputed manufactures have remanufacturing programs that takes failed components, fixes them, tests them, and then sells them as used parts.

Most of these parts will be like new ones and adhere to original specifications. This is a cost saving method for buyers without compromising the quality and contributing to environmental protection by reducing waste. Major construction equipment manufacturers have distribution networks that help buyers to get the parts as and when possible without wasting time which is crucial for their business. Online support systems help them in locating and transferring the parts which are in great demand in one place but lying idle in another place without any buyers.

The backhoe is the most ingenious piece of modern construction equipment on the market today. It’s versatile and flexible and comes with a broad range of attachments that aid with digging and excavation.

When looking to buy used backhoes for sale, one of the first things to consider after you’re done a test drive, is the proper inspection of the used backhoe. This insures, as much as possible, that it is free of any mechanical, hydraulic or electrical problems.

For instance, new paint jobs can look good, but are sometimes used to cover up more serious problems. Look for signs of fluid leaks and concealed rust spots to find potential problems. Check underneath the vehicle for evidence of leaks. Inspect hoses and valves before and after the test drive, so you can easily spot fresh leaks.

Used backhoes are much cheaper than brand new ones, but you must take into consideration the maintenance costs. Make sure that you are given any necessary new and used parts that belong to the backhoe in order to keep it in top shape.

If the used backhoe for sale is purchased from an equipment dealer, sign a service contract with the dealer, whereby they have several parts departments within your state. In this way, wherever you find yourself with your used backhoe, the service will be nearby with the parts needed.

Before buying a used backhoe for sale from a private individual, ask a dealer or manufacturer for a checklist of what you should know and/or be looking for, to insure good decision making.

Making calculations when purchasing a good used backhoe, is paramount in your decision making. The number of hours used should be one of the main criteria when estimating the price, because you do not want to end up spending more money in the long run. In other words, the more the hours the less the price.

In order to make this determination, get new backhoe pricing info versus used backhoe pricing info on the brand you have chosen, from a manufacturer, or go online and surf the web to find this information, and use it as a guide towards a good buying decision.

OSHA rules require specific training and safety procedures for operating all heavy machinery and that would include used backhoes. So, get that training from a dealer or a recommended third-party source.

With these few tips in mind and your good judgment, you should be able to find a used backhoe for sale that can still get the job done.

Many companies and contractors in need of acquiring new or used construction equipment often don’t have the financial resources needed to buy the construction equipment outright, unless it is a large corporation or some branch of the government. This is when the option of renting or leasing construction equipment comes into play. Deciding to rent or lease often depends on what the contractor or business manager feels most comfortable doing from a financial perspective after evaluating the many possibilities and deciding what suits their need from long term leasing to short term renting. The side of construction equipment rentals has met a positive growth since 2004, where nearly 50% of construction equipment dealers’ are offering heavy equipment rentals as part of their operation.

There are two ways most companies acquire their construction equipment, renting or leasing. Many contractors or business managers viewed renting or leasing as an opportunity to test out construction equipment at no extra cost and with no strings attached with the possibility of buying. Most often the rental would be converted into a purchase to avoid losing the invested equity. Most buyers would also take into account whether their business is flourishing or floundering, before committing to buying any construction equipment. In a case where a business has an uncertain future, the potential buyers may deem renting as the best way economically and then return the construction equipment to its owner when the job is done.

The Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is the international trade and business development resource for companies that manufacture equipment, products and services used worldwide in the construction, agricultural, mining, forestry, and utility fields. The AEM has conducted a survey that predicted that in the near future, more construction equipment buyers will turn to the Internet for product purchases; as construction equipment buyers increasingly turn to the Internet for transactions, information and support.

Consequently, the rise of on-line auctions, sales, renting and leasing are made available by a variety of merchants who cater to the needs of companies and contractors worldwide. On-line merchants such as: Machine Mart, Rock & Dirt, Machinery Trader, Iron Planet, Contractors Hotline, etc. are only a few of the leading markets where companies and contractors alike can find nearly every piece of construction equipment they are looking for, from the top manufacturers such as Caterpillar equipment and John Deere equipment to many more. Many of these merchants offer the options of buying, selling, renting and leasing of new and used construction equipment to parts service and repair and machine maintenance. It’s always wise to investigate the background of any merchant before you place a bid or purchase any construction equipment, to ensure a good reputable stand point before entering into a contract with any dealer or merchant. It’s always wise to shop around and compare deals on construction equipment to other offers before committing to any deal.

Purchasing heavy equipment is a necessary part of the construction business, but the steep asking prices on just one crane, dump truck, excavator, skid steer, loader, tractor, or any number of heavy equipment pieces that your business will use in its daily operation could easily finance an entire home construction project. Any time one of your employees points out that you need new machinery, you cringe, right? Then it’s time to take out the accounting books and see how you can afford new construction equipment.

Need a crane? Be prepared to spend around $250,000 or more for a brand new crane model. How about an excavator? It’s relatively cheaper at around $25,000-50,000. A brand new skid steer costs around $25,000. Buy a new dump truck and you could easily be spending hundreds of thousands—if not millions—for a really big heavy dump truck.

That’s why buying used machinery can save your company so much. A used crane can cost as little as $75,000. A used excavator can cost $17,000. What about a used skid steer? An asking price of $10,000 or even $6000 for a used skid steer is not unheard of. Used trucks start at as little as $3500. Depending on the size of the used dump truck you have in mind, your company could pay only $2500. Since a dump truck tire alone can cost $40,000 if the heavy dump truck is big enough, it might be more economical to replace the entire dump truck than replace the tires!

How do you find prices like these and better on used heavy equipment? By searching for a reputable third-party used heavy construction equipment classifieds website to act as mediator between buyers and sellers.

If you’re looking to buy used heavy equipment or any other kind of used machinery, try a reputable online classified website You’ll find classifieds for used heavy trucks, used excavators, used skid steers, heavy loaders, heavy tractors, cranes, and many used heavy construction equipment pieces. Search for used heavy equipment by manufacturer and machine type.

Many of the used construction equipment prices are negotiable, so you could easily get a deal on a used excavator, used skid steer, used dump truck, or any other piece of used heavy construction equipment for far less than the prices listed. Don’t see the used heavy equipment you’re looking for? Place a Want Ad with a description of the used construction equipment you want and your price range!

Purchasing heavy equipment, even used heavy equipment, can consume a large amount of funds. When heavy dump trucks, cranes, or any other heavy equipment is on the fritz, some construction companies might just need to borrow some heavy equipment for a short time while their heavy equipment is being fixed.

New heavy construction equipment can cost so much of your construction company’s funds that even the best jobs can turn little profit. While quality machinery is of course essential to any construction project’s success, quality used machinery is easy to find with the right classifieds website. Before you buy new, buy used heavy equipment and save the accounting books at your construction business from going into red!

Sometimes an excavator or a heavy loader is just more than you need for a job. That’s why the skid steer, which can perform similarly to an excavator or a heavy loader on a smaller scale, is a central piece of machinery to many construction, demolition, landscaping, and mining companies as well as a farms and other agricultural operations.

The kind of skid steer you need depends on the scope of your operation, but the best part about skid steers is that there are so many add-ons and work tools available, the skid steer is one of the most adaptable pieces of machinery in your inventory. If you’re in a business that requires the use of heavy equipment, you’re in a business that requires the use of a skid steer.

Perhaps you’re starting a business and need a skid steer or maybe you need to replace a skid steer that no longer works. You might even have a used skid steer that you no longer need and want to earn back some of the purchase price by moving it off of your lot.

If you’re looking to purchase a skid steer, you should consider buying a used skid steer instead of a brand new one. Not only will you save thousands of dollars, but if the used skid steer is in good enough condition, you may have a better-operating machine than a brand new model which has yet to be fully tested in the field.

You can find a used skid steer for sale online for just $6000 if you know where to look! Online used construction equipment classifieds sites offer a variety of used skid steers, from a 1978 New Holland 1778 to a 2005 John Deere 320 at low prices and even negotiable rates. See if you can get a better deal than the average list price with a seller who’s willing to bargain!

If you only need a skid steer for short time—perhaps for one project or while your other skid steer is being repaired—you can rent a used skid steer for just a few thousand—maybe even a few hundred—per month. Renting a used skid steer solves the problem of trying to get rid of the used skid steer you no longer use. If you know that you’ll only need it for a short time, save your money and rent it short-term!

Perhaps you won’t find the exact used skid steer you need for your operation, but if you find a good used heavy equipment Web site, you’ll be able to post a Want Ad detailing the kind of used skid steer for which you’re searching. A seller can then contact you with his or her best offer!

If you already have an excess used skid steer to sell, a used heavy construction equipment classifieds Web site is exactly the place you need to get that used skid steer off of your lot and thousands of dollars back into your pocket. While it’s true that many used heavy construction equipment classifieds Web sites can charge sellers upwards of 20% of the sale price—which, when dealing with used heavy equipment can easily equal $5000, $10,000, or even $20,000—not all used heavy equipment classifieds Web sites are like that!

Since you’re sure to need a variety of skid steers for your farm or construction, landscaping, demolition, or mining business, you’re going to need to find a place that offers a variety of used skid steers at bargain prices. The best used heavy equipment classifieds Web sites don’t punish buyers or sellers by taking fees and they offer their members a wide variety of options when posting an ad. Sign up for a free membership at one of these sites and start browsing the used skid steer ads today!
